Certificate of Absence of a Marriage Record / Certificate of Capacity to Marry
This certificate proves that its holder is not married at the time of issue and confirms, therefore, that there is no impediment for the person to be married.
The certificate of absence of a marriage record or certificate of capacity to marry is essential for a foreign citizen to be able to marry in the territory of Spain, since Spanish legislation prevents the marriage of a person already married and not legally divorced. The application procedure is different for each country, so you should contact your Consulate, where they will inform you about this procedure.
